Mishima is one of the original three megacorporations, and one of those to acquire a terraformed planet for its own. Its base is on Mercury, planet closest to the sun, in cavernous artificial environments buried underneath the crust. Mishima originated as a conglomerate of Asian corporations, dominated by Japanese industries.

Mishiman culture is strictly divided into castes. Warriors are drawn from the Samurai caste, and most Mishima "citizens" are mere peasants. Mishiman peasants who live on Mercury have very little in the way of personal freedoms, but it is a matter of long-standing tradition, and their way of life.

Mishima has long been on poor terms with the Brotherhood, and has all but banned the Brotherhood from any activities on Mercury. So far, Mercury is the planet that has seen the least overt influence from the Dark Legion. Unlike Mars with its vast deserts and Venus with its wild jungles, there just isn't much of a way that the Dark Legion can plant a Citadel inside the cavernous interior of Mercury. Likewise, the other corporations have quite a bit of trouble getting a foothold on Mercury.
