The Voyage of the Amorous Armadillo - Poster for Pirates of the Spanish Main RPG Campaign - Savage Worlds Poster: The Voyage of the Amorous Armadillo
For my Pirates RPG campaign at the Amorous Armadillo Game Shoppe in Winter Park, Florida, I put together a campaign poster. The figurehead is inspired by the store's strange (and slightly disturbing) logo/mascot. The ocean sunset background is inspired by a photograph by Chris Stadler. (9 Aug 2011)
Mark the Highwayman Mark the Highwayman
Here's a portrait of my cousin Mark as an 18th-century highwayman stepping out of the shadows on a lonely, fog-shrouded winter forest, confronting a lone traveler in the dim lantern light. (7 Jul 2010)
Captain Charity Dawn, Scourge of the High Seas Captain Charity Dawn, Scourge of the High Seas
My cousin Charity requested that I draw her as Captain Jack Sparrow. (Disclaimer: The character and likeness of Captain Jack Sparrow is a property of Disney. No infringement against or challenge to trademark or copyright status is intended.) (6 Jul 2010)
Sundered Skies Portrait - Wildling Fox Wildling Fox Skiv (Sundered Skies Portrait)
The first of several miniature character portraits drawn for a Sundered Skies demo game, of "wildling" characters (magically-created creatures, fusions of human and animal origins). Although this looks a lot like my usual anthropomorphic-animal fare, most wildlings are particularly unnatural and "mutant" in appearance - parts of their bodies leaning more toward their human or animal origins here and there, for a "patchwork" and sometimes even Frankenstein-ish appearance (minus the scars and stitches). (8 Jun 2008.)
Sundered Skies Portrait - Wildling Cat Overconfident and Crazed Cat Wildling Pilot (Sundered Skies Portrait)
Another "wildling" portrait, this one looking just a bit more ragged and mutant - or at least unkempt. This one called for a cat wildling who happens to be an overconfident skyship pilot. (8 Jun 2008.)
Sundered Skies Portrait - Wildling Raven Raven Wildling Priest (Sundered Skies Portrait)
Here's a raven-wildling priest, an example of a wildling further along on the spectrum of "animal-to-human" than the fox and cat above, in that uncomfortable zone where the parts just don't mesh very well. This character is depicted as an "Untamed," also known as a "Priest of the Alpha" - representing the primary religion of the wildlings, as represented by the stylized broken chain. (9 Jun 2008.)
Sundered Skies Portrait - Wildling Badger Badger Wildling Warrior (Sundered Skies Portrait)
This represents the far end of the wildling spectrum - a sort of "Lon Cheney Meets KISS" look, where if you were to give this guy a shave (after first tying him up securely, with the help of several friends, of course), he just might be able to pass for "ugly human," Island of Dr. Moreau style. My description to work with for this one was "angry badger," so I hope I've managed to capture that much. (9 Jun 2008.)
Sundered Skies Portrait - Wildling Magpie Magpie Wildling Thief (Sundered Skies Portrait)
And in the department of, "With a Successful Bluff, You Might Persuade Someone You're Just Wearing a Feathered Mask," here's a magpie wildling - as with all of its kind, naturally gifted at surreptitiously filching things when nobody's looking (and, in this case, with a permanent smirk on account of that mismatched beak). (10 Jun 2008.)
Sundered Skies Portrait - Wildling Chameleon Chameleon Spy (Sundered Skies Portrait)
This guy isn't fooling anybody - he's neither human, nor beast. However, since he's a chameleon, maybe he can just blend into the background and nobody will notice he's there. One can hope. (10 Jun 2008.)
Chinese Dragon Exteme Swashbuckling (Pirates Adventure Deck) Chinese Dragon Extreme Swashbuckling (Pirates Adventure Deck)
An illustration done for my Pirates-themed Adventure Deck, for the "Chariot of the Gods" card. Yeah, I know, it's quite a stretch off of the original. (23 Mar 2008.)

An illustration done for my Pirates-themed Adventure Deck, for the "Hidden Cove" card. I based this on a photograph of a cove, though I tweaked things a bit to fit the proportions I wanted. (5 Mar 2008.)
