Do you like to explore sandboxy video game worlds? I do too! A big favorite of mine is multiplayer Minecraft
with "adventure"-focused modpacks to explore trap-filled dungeons with my blocky friends. Lo and behold, d00dv4d3r created (and AtomicStryker maintains)
RUINS MOD, which lets me share some of my "ruin"
creations with others: exotic villages, custom monsters, trap-filled dungeons and wizard towers, and even the occasional magic tome.
For additional technical details and support, check out
AtomicStryker's Ruins thread on the Curse Minecraft Forums.
Version Notes:
- MC Version #: The left column indicates what version of Minecraft this is for. Then, on the right, I've made variations on my template pack, as some people
want traps and treasure and ADVENTURE ... and some don't. Some also have problems with Command Blocks.
Make sure you've got the CORRECT one for the version of Minecraft you're running.
- Dates listed on the table above indicate when I last updated each ZIP bundle. I go back and make corrections from time to time.
- FULL VERSION is my main template collection, including "Adventure" versions (traps, monsters, and treasure) and various tricks using Command Blocks ("CB").
If you install this, DO NOT also install the "Peaceful," "Adventure Lite," or "Scenery" versions, as you'll have a great deal of duplication.
- PEACEFUL is a slightly toned-down version of the collection, minus traps or monsters, and with any treasures toned down accordingly. This is for when you just want
something interesting to explore, but would rather scale back on TNT traps, pit traps, smashers, endless Creeper spawners, and the like. There are still Command Blocks ("CB")
used in this version, for such oddities as teleportation devices, custom villagers, or artificially-spawned "villages" of multiple structures spawned together.
- ADVENTURE LITE puts the monsters, traps, and treasures back in, but takes out Command Blocks ("NO CB"), to avoid conflicts or play balance issues with certain
modpack installations. Unfortunately, this removes most of my modular dungeon and village projects, as well as customized "magic item" treasure and monsters.
- SCENERY is the most stripped-down version available, as it removes the traps, treasure, and monsters, AND the Command Blocks. Here, you'll get an occasional abandoned house,
broken monument, gnarled old tree, or secluded pool, but none of the big dungeons or Command-Block strangeness.
- GENERIC ALT packs are alternative versions of the "generic" structures included with the Ruins mod, updated to fix a few glitches (IMHO) and to optimize their chances to spawn
in the game world. Credits to the original creator are listed in the header of each template. I personally prefer to LEAVE OUT any structures in the "generic" biome folder,
so that each biome can have more of a distinct "flavor" of what sorts of structures might pop up.
Special Thanks to:
- Kujaku10 (AKA Wendy), my co-conspirator, who created a number of the prettier structures in these packs.
- Gillymoth, a Ruins expert on the Curse Mod forums, who helped me learn the ropes.
- Syndaryl and Mentalmouse42 for help with bug fixes in several of my structures.
- Geethebluesky and Boyslittle for help catching errors.
- A1c3e5 for explaining the ever-useful "/blockdata ~ ~ ~ {}" trick for getting data for teBlock rules (such as flower pots).
- Insane96 for catching major link errors on this page.
- QuarterAnimal for new functionality and technical expertise in explaining (on the forums) the mechanics of how Ruins works behind the scenes.
- ... and especially to AtomicStryker for maintaining and improving my favorite Minecraft mod!
Usage Notes:
If you have a Minecraft modpack including AtomicStryker's Ruins, you are welcome to use any or all of our (Kujaku10's and JordanGreywolf's) templates, and to modify them to best fit your
setup and theme. If you do include these in a modpack, I'd love to hear about it on the Ruins forum thread or via PM.
